Winter Safety Reminder

Guidelines for Snow and Ice Removal in Our Community

Winter weather brings beautiful scenery to our neighborhood, but it also comes with the important responsibility of keeping our community safe and accessible. Clearing snow and ice from driveways and sidewalks not only protects your family, friends, and neighbors, but also makes it easier for everyone to get around, including emergency vehicles and delivery drivers. Your efforts play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of all.

Snow and Ice Removal Guidelines

·       Keep driveways and sidewalks clear: Regularly remove snow and ice to prevent slips, falls, and other safety hazards. Clear pathways improve accessibility for everyone and help keep emergency and delivery routes open.

·       Pile snow alongside driveways: When shoveling or using a snow blower, place snow on the sides of your driveway instead of in the street. This helps keep roadways open and safe for all traffic.

·       Avoid pushing snow into roadways or the right-of-way: Do not push snow across public streets or into public areas, as it creates obstacles for vehicles and pedestrians. In many places, it is illegal to push snow onto public roads or highways, as this can endanger others and obstruct traffic flow.

·       Prevent berms: Berms, or snow mounds, at the ends of driveways and sidewalks can block access and create safety hazards. Try to keep entryways smooth and open to maintain safe passage.

·       Place trash carts in driveway entrances: On trash collection days, set your trash carts at the end of your driveway but far enough back to avoid interfering with traffic or snow plows. Avoid placing carts in the street, which can hinder snow removal and risk carts being knocked over.

Thank you for your commitment to keeping our community safe and accessible during the winter months. By following these simple guidelines and working together, we can ensure that everyone enjoys a safer, easier winter season!
